Blood Tests

Know what's happening inside.

Weight management is metabolic medicine. Our blood test panels are reviewed by your GP to give a complete picture of your metabolic health.

📍

Blood tests at our clinic or our Harley Street laboratory

Blood tests are taken at our Battersea clinic, or at our laboratory on Harley Street, or as a home visit for an additional £50 phlebotomy fee. We do not offer home testing kits due to the risk of sample errors.

General health panels.

Broader panels give your GP more to work with - particularly for understanding cardiovascular risk in the context of weight management.

Essential Biochemistry

Core Body Chemistry

A solid starting point covering kidney function, liver health, bone markers, glucose, cholesterol and iron. No haematology or thyroid included at this level.

Not sure which panel to choose?

If you are starting a Mounjaro programme with us, we recommend the Recommended Metabolic Profile (£245) - it is specifically curated for weight management patients and includes the cardiovascular markers (ApoB, hs-CRP) that standard panels miss.

If you have already had recent bloods elsewhere and just want a top-up check, the General Health Check (£200) is a solid option with thyroid included.

Cardiovascular risk profiles.

Obesity is one of the most significant modifiable cardiovascular risk factors. These profiles go beyond standard cholesterol to give a detailed picture of your true heart health - including markers that standard panels miss entirely.

Cardiovascular Risk Profile 1

Heart Health Essentials

A focused cardiovascular panel covering the key risk markers beyond standard cholesterol - including ApoB and Lipoprotein(a), which are strongly predictive of cardiovascular events but rarely tested on the NHS.

£330
Cardiovascular Risk Profile 1
Lipid and Cardiovascular Markers

Cardiovascular Risk Profile 2

Advanced Heart Health

The most comprehensive cardiovascular panel available. Adds Fibrinogen and Homocysteine to the standard cardiovascular profile - both independent risk factors for heart disease and metabolic dysfunction.

£420

Everything in Profile 1, plus

Condition-specific profiles.

For patients with specific health concerns that may be driving or worsened by excess weight. All profiles are reviewed by your GP.

For Women

PCOS Profile

A comprehensive hormonal and metabolic panel for women with polycystic ovary syndrome or suspected PCOS. Includes insulin - a key marker not found in standard profiles - which is central to understanding PCOS-related weight gain.

Pituitary Hormone Profile

The pituitary gland regulates growth hormone, thyroid function, adrenal activity and reproductive hormones. Disruption at this level can drive weight gain that is resistant to diet and exercise. Recommended if your GP suspects a hormonal cause.

Thyroid Function

Full Thyroid Profile

An underactive thyroid is one of the most commonly missed causes of weight gain. A TSH alone (as tested in most GP surgeries) can be normal even when thyroid function is suboptimal. This panel goes deeper.

TSH and Free T4 are included in several other panels. Book the full thyroid profile if you have symptoms suggesting autoimmune thyroid disease.

Individual tests.

For patients who need a specific marker checked, or want to add a test to an existing panel.

FIRI - Fasting Insulin Resistance

The Fasting Insulin Resistance Index measures how effectively your body responds to insulin. Insulin resistance is a central driver of weight gain and type 2 diabetes. Requires a fasting blood draw.

£80
Vitamin D (25-OH)

Vitamin D deficiency is extremely common and linked to fatigue, mood changes, reduced metabolic function and weight gain. A simple single marker if you don't need a full panel.

Included in selected panels
HbA1c (Blood Sugar Control)

Measures your average blood sugar over 3 months. A key safety check before and during Mounjaro treatment. Included in most panels - book as standalone if needed urgently.

Included in selected panels
Thyroid (TSH / Free T4)

A screening test for thyroid dysfunction. Weight-related issues, fatigue, and changes in mood are all common thyroid symptoms. Included in most panels from General Health Check upwards.

Included in selected panels
ApoB

Apolipoprotein B is a more accurate predictor of cardiovascular risk than LDL cholesterol alone. Especially relevant for patients with obesity, as ApoB can be elevated even when standard cholesterol looks normal.

Included in Recommended Profile
hs-CRP (Inflammation)

High-sensitivity C-reactive protein is a marker of low-grade systemic inflammation - strongly associated with obesity, metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular risk. Included in our Recommended Profile and Cardiovascular panels.

Included in Recommended Profile

Where to have your blood tests taken.

All samples are collected by a qualified phlebotomist.

Option 1

Battersea Clinic

28-29 Wilcox Close, SW8 2UD. Blood tests can be taken during your regular clinic appointment or as a standalone visit.

Option 2

Our Laboratory on Harley Street

Our central London laboratory is located on Harley Street. Ideal if you work in central London or prefer not to travel to Battersea.

When requesting individual tests rather than a panel, the phlebotomy fee is included in the per-test price. Panel prices already incorporate collection costs at both locations.
